Engaging in physical activity is a promising strategy to mitigate negative health consequences related to poor physical fitness as a result of sedentary behaviours among adults with developmental disabilities. Therefore, increasing the number of adults with developmental disabilities who sustain an active lifestyle is imperative. To achieve this, an Adapted Physical Exercise (APEX) manual was developed to provide adults with developmental disabilities evidence-based information on physical fitness and exercise prescription, including safe and proper technique. Exercises are demonstrated with the use of photos and twenty-one instructional videos. Given the universal design of the manual, it also functions as a resource for family members and support staff who seek to facilitate physical fitness in the daily lives of the people they support.

In addition, a webinar has been provided to guide viewers through APEX highlights, while funded by the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
